ME News Report, April 17 (UTC+8), the United States and Iran are negotiating a three-page plan aimed at ending the war.
The core discussion includes the U.S. releasing $20 billion of frozen Iranian funds in exchange for Iran abandoning its enriched uranium stockpile.
Currently, Iran possesses about 2,000 kilograms of enriched uranium, including 450 kilograms with 60% enrichment.
Progress has been made in the negotiations, and both sides are expected to hold a second round of talks on Sunday in Islamabad, Pakistan, with mediation from Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey.
The proposed agreement includes provisions to transfer some highly enriched uranium to third countries, undergo international monitoring within Iran for down-blending, and implement a voluntary nuclear enrichment pause period (20 years requested by the U.S., 5 years proposed by Iran).
Trump stated that the two sides are close to reaching an agreement, and if no deal is reached, the ceasefire agreement will expire on April 21, and hostilities will resume.

20 years versus 5 years, the gap during this suspension period is just too big.

Trump said an agreement is close, but with the April 21st deadline looming, it feels like the usual maximum pressure tactic.

Can the technical details of transporting highly enriched uranium through third countries and domestically down-blending be implemented? I have my doubts.

$20 billion for 2,000 kilograms of uranium—no matter how you count, it looks like the U.S. side is making a huge profit.
