I was recently interested in how Elon Musk influences the cryptocurrency market. The guy has a really significant role in making prices soar up and down. His tweets are almost magical words for the industry. It’s worth looking into what assets he actually holds and why.
It all started with Bitcoin. In 2021, Tesla invested 77.4k dollars in BTC — that was a game-changing moment. He views Bitcoin as digital gold, a hedge against inflation, not something for everyday spending. The company even accepted BTC payments for vehicles for a while before suspending it due to environmental concerns. Reports indicate that Tesla still holds about 2.13k dollars in Bitcoin. This shows that for Musk, Bitcoin is a serious investment, not just hype.
Ethereum is the second element of Elon Musk’s cryptocurrency portfolio. The Ethereum network powers smart contracts, DApps, NFTs, and the entire DeFi ecosystem. The switch to Proof-of-Stake solved the energy problem, which fits perfectly with his eco-friendly approach. Musk has become interested in NFTs, which mainly operate on Ethereum. It’s no coincidence that he supports this network.
But when it comes to passion, Dogecoin is his favorite. It started as a meme, and now it’s a serious player. Musk called it the people’s cryptocurrency and it actually allows payments in DOGE at Tesla. SpaceX even plans to accept Dogecoin for space missions. Transactions are faster and cheaper than Bitcoin, making it practical for daily transfers. His tweets about Dogecoin always cause a price jump — it’s almost like he has a magic power over this cryptocurrency.
Interestingly, it’s not just about money. Musk sees the future of digital finance and invests strategically. Bitcoin is a store of value, Ethereum is technological innovation, and Dogecoin is a community-driven currency. Each has its role.
Currently, Bitcoin hovers around 77.4K, Ethereum is about 2.13K, and Dogecoin is 0.11 dollars. Musk’s cryptocurrency wallet remains one of the most watched in the industry. His involvement in these three assets shows he’s thinking long-term about the transformation of digital finance.
I wonder if he will add something new to his portfolio? Given his style, I can expect more surprises. What do you think about how Elon Musk’s cryptocurrency is shaping the market?
