I've noticed that Elon Musk's interest in cryptocurrencies remains undiminished. Let's explore which specific assets this tech billionaire holds and why they attract him.
Let's start with the most obvious — Bitcoin. Musk first openly supported BTC in 2021 when Tesla announced an investment of $1.5 billion. Although the company later sold most of its holdings, Musk confirmed that he personally continues to own Bitcoin. For him, it's more like digital gold, a store of value rather than a speculative asset. The current price of BTC is around $77.69k, and its market capitalization is $1.556 trillion.
The second asset in his portfolio is Ethereum. Musk revealed this at the 2021 conference The ₿ Word. Ethereum interests him because of smart contract capabilities and its role in the development of DeFi and NFTs. ETH is now trading at about $2.14k with a capitalization of $257.82 billion.
But honestly, Musk's true love is Dogecoin. He doesn't hide his attitude toward DOGE, calling it a people's cryptocurrency. He even suggested using it for payments at Tesla and SpaceX. Musk appreciates the humor behind the coin's origin but also believes in its functionality due to low fees. DOGE is currently trading at around $0.11.
As for other coins, the picture is less clear. Musk officially denies owning Shiba Inu, although his tweets about dog coins regularly cause market waves. SHIB has a capitalization of $3.45 billion. The same goes for Floki Inu — named after his dog, but without direct confirmation of ownership. FLOKI's market cap is approximately $298 million.
Overall, Elon Musk's cryptocurrency portfolio is not just an investment collection. It reflects his vision of the future of financial technologies. Musk sees cryptocurrencies as more than just speculative assets. To him, they are tools for transforming the economy, especially when it comes to decentralized systems and accessible payments. It's interesting to observe how the cryptocurrency that one of the most influential people on the planet is passionate about continues to evolve and attract new market participants.
