I've noticed that many beginners in crypto make the same mistake — they buy a coin and just wait for it to grow. Then they get stuck in a trade for weeks or months, wasting time and money. But everything could be planned in advance.

Profit is essentially your target earning goal, which you set before each purchase. It’s not just a desired percentage — it’s a specific price at which you exit the position. It sounds simple, but most ignore this step.

Why is this important? Because profit is a tool that helps you clearly understand when to exit. Instead of guessing, you simply follow the plan. This allows you to earn small but frequent profits, rather than waiting for one big move.

The formula is straightforward: Target Price = Entry Price × (1 + Profit in Percent / 100)

Let me give a real example. Bought a coin at 1.000 USDT, want 0.5% profit. I calculate: 1.000 × (1 + 0.5 / 100) = 1.005 USDT. That’s it — I place a sell order at 1.005 and wait.

Another example: entered a position at 0.328 USDT, want 0.6% profit. Target price = 0.328 × 1.006 = 0.330 USDT. I close at this price.

Now the question — what profit size should you choose? If you don’t want to stay in the coin, consider 0.3–0.6%. If the coin is volatile, you can raise it to 0.7–1.0%. Above 1.5% — that’s already a high risk of not reaching the target price, especially if the market is not trending.

There’s an important point about fees here. On most exchanges, the fee is about 0.1% for entry and 0.1% for exit, totaling 0.2%. So, the profit must be higher than 0.2%, otherwise you just cover the fee and break even. If you set it at 0.5%, your net profit after all fees will be about 0.3%.

What happens if you calculate incorrectly? Too small a profit might not cover the fee at all. Too large — you simply won’t reach it and will stay in a loss for several days. Not calculating at all is like driving in an unfamiliar city without a navigator.

My advice: always calculate your profit before the trade. Don’t guess, don’t rely on intuition. Use the formula. Better five trades with 0.5% profit each than one with 5% that you’ll never reach.

Trading is math, not guessing. Current quotes: BTC around 77.77K, ETH around 2.14K, BNB around 658.60. But regardless of the asset’s price, the principle of calculating profit remains the same.
