Guys, how many of you have actually read a whitepaper before investing in a project? I’ve seen everything in the crypto sector, and one thing that strikes me is how many still underestimate the importance of this document.

So, let’s clear things up. The whitepaper is not a new thing – it has existed for about a century, invented by the British government to communicate public decisions. The term "white" simply indicated that it was accessible to everyone. Over time, it has become a serious tool for explaining complex solutions credibly.

In crypto, the whitepaper has become almost a ritual. If a project doesn’t have a decent whitepaper, people already distrust it. And honestly, that makes sense. It’s the only real requirement before even launching the website. Retail investors, venture capitalists, everyone – all look at the whitepaper before deciding whether to believe in the project.

But what should it really contain? First of all, it must start with a real problem. Not the usual marketing rhetoric, but a genuine issue your audience is facing. Then come the data, charts, proof that your solution works. Only after that do you introduce your team – real photos, verifiable backgrounds, not NFT profiles that make people laugh. Add details about tokenomics, quarterly roadmaps, refund terms if something goes wrong.

I’ve noticed many projects make the mistake of turning the whitepaper into an unreadable document. Insufficient white space, small fonts, no visual breathing room. The reader gets bored and abandons it. A good graphic designer who understands your brand can make the difference between a convincing whitepaper and one that ends up forgotten.

Looking at the great examples, Bitcoin’s whitepaper is technically an academic paper – Satoshi did something different from the traditional format. Ethereum took a different path, transforming its whitepaper into something alive, that evolves over time.

If you don’t have the time or skills to write your whitepaper, hire a professional writer. Yes, it costs more than a freelancer on Fiverr, but it’s an investment that pays off. A solid whitepaper makes it easier to raise funds, generates real interest, and most importantly, keeps your team accountable to investors. In crypto, a good whitepaper is the foundation for building credibility.
