📉 Ethereum Foundation: 9 Core Members Depart in 9 Months

From April to May 2026, at least 6 core members left, covering protocol engineering, cryptoeconomics research, and management.
Including since September 2024, at least 9 key figures have left, including:

Danny Ryan (led research team for 7 years)

Carl Beek (key figure in Beacon Chain, worked for 7 years)

Dankrad Feist (senior researcher)

Julian Ma (mechanism design researcher for 4 years)

Tomasz Stańczak (co-CEO, resigned after 1 year of joining)

EF officials call this “voluntary slimming,” reducing the Foundation’s direct influence under the Mandate framework.
But the data cannot be ignored:

Core developers: 225 (May 2025) → 169 (May 2026)

Total ecosystem developers have fallen behind Solana

EF wallet ETH reserves continue to shrink, now holding 103,660 ETH (partially sold to BitMine)

Glamsterdam upgrade postponed, decentralized projects face peak attack periods

The line between “decentralization” and “breaking up” is sometimes more blurred than imagined.
Infrastructure remains (Beacon Chain staking accounts for 31% of circulating supply), but the leaders are leaving one after another.
ETH0.75%
SOL0.16%
