The Ethereum Foundation (EF) continues to see key staff members leave. On May 18, researchers Karl Bik and Julian Ma announced their departure from the organization.

Both decisions were voluntary. The developers wrote farewell messages on X.

Bik will leave the organization at the end of the month. The specialist worked at EF for seven years, including participating in the creation of the Ethereum Beacon Chain, working to improve network throughput, and the execution layer.

Ma spent four years at the organization in the research and product department. He created the design for network economics and scaling. The developer is a co-author of the proposal to improve privacy with FOCIL and led the launch of the fast confirmation mechanism, which accelerates transfers between L1 and L2.

## Dissolution of the Ethereum Foundation

Bik and Ma continued a series of layoffs at EF. Over the past few months, the foundation has already seen several well-known participants in the ecosystem leave.

In early May, leading developers Barnabe Monno and Tim Beiko left the Protocol team, and Alex Stokes took creative leave. Temporary administrators were appointed in their place.

In April, team manager Josh Stark announced his departure. In February, co-executive director Tomasz Stanczak left after working in the position for less than a year. Some specialists moved on to outside projects.

Recall that in March, the Ethereum Foundation team promised to prepare the network’s quantum protection by 2029.
