Golden Finance reports that on May 18th, CoinShares released its latest weekly report indicating that last week, digital asset investment products experienced a $1.07 billion outflow of funds, marking the first negative growth in seven weeks and the third-largest weekly outflow since 2026, second only to two weeks in late January. Bitcoin funds saw an outflow of $982 million, with total outflows since the beginning of the year reaching $3.9 billion. Ethereum funds experienced an outflow of $249 million, the largest single-day outflow since January 30th. Blockchain stock ETFs were also affected by risk-averse sentiment, with total outflows of $133 million.
Altcoins performed particularly well. XRP recorded an inflow of $67.6 million, Solana saw an inflow of $55.1 million, both accelerating growth in recent weeks. The inflows for Ton ($7.7 million), Sui ($4.7 million), Ondo ($4.1 million), Chainlink ($3.9 million), and Dogecoin ($3.2 million) were smaller but still significant, indicating that investors are increasingly turning their attention to cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum in search of selective investment opportunities.
