ME News Report, April 17 (UTC+8), a user who has held Bitcoin since 2017 was recently hacked after downloading a counterfeit Ledger app, losing all of their Bitcoin assets. The information shows that the user downloaded a seemingly legitimate Ledger app from the Apple App Store last week, which looked similar to the official version in branding and interface. Subsequently, the app prompted the user to input 24 mnemonic words, and after the malicious app obtained this information, the attacker reconstructed the wallet and immediately transferred the funds. The report points out that once the mnemonic words are in the hands of others, the related wallet assets can be transferred directly, and there are no device confirmation, secondary verification, or revocation mechanisms.
