Oh, have you ever stopped to think about who the richest players in the world really are? Like, it’s not only Cristiano Ronaldo who earns the most per month, but who actually has the most money overall. I found out that Faiq Bolkiah, the guy from Brunei, is the richest player in the world with something like 20 billion dollars. But hold on—most of that money comes from his royal family, not from a football contract.
Now, if we’re talking about players who really got rich by playing football, then things change. Mathieu Flamini, the former Arsenal player, is a billionaire because he founded a company for sustainable products after he retired. Cristiano Ronaldo has around 500 million, and Messi has 400 million. These guys built their fortunes not only through salaries, but through brands, hotels, global advertising—that kind of business that really pays off.
In 2025, salaries are still absurd. Ronaldo is at Al-Nassr earning 220 million per year just from playing, plus 65 million from advertising. Neymar at Al-Hilal with 110 million. It’s like, while we’re here working, these guys are making more in a month than we earn in our entire lives.
But do you know what’s interesting? The richest players in the world aren’t necessarily the ones who earn the most right now. Some people who retired years ago still have more wealth because they invested well. Beckham, Ronaldo Nazário—these guys made money outside of football too.
And it’s not just players. The clubs themselves are financial powerhouses. Real Madrid is worth 6.6 billion, and Manchester United 6.5 billion. Behind all of that are billionaires and Saudi investment funds injecting money. Football has truly turned into a trillion-dollar industry, and we’re just watching from the stands.
