I've been observing for a while how beginners enter the crypto market without really knowing where to start. The truth is, there's a lot of noise out there: pump and dump scams, phantom projects promising impossible returns. That's why I decided to share what I consider the most solid assets for those just starting out.
Look, if you're conservative, Bitcoin and Ethereum are your anchor points. Bitcoin remains the digital gold, with that programmed scarcity making it a safe haven in any cycle. Ethereum, on the other hand, is the foundation of everything happening in DeFi and real asset tokenization. Both have huge market capitalizations, which means less risk of extreme manipulation.
Now, if you already understand how the market works and want more action, Solana is interesting. Its transaction speed and minimal costs make it a favorite for high-performance applications. I've seen projections talking about $250 this year and $2,000 in 2030, though of course, with the volatility characteristic of emerging projects. Native staking gives you between 5-7% annually, and there are DeFi strategies that can surpass 15%.
Ripple is another worth considering. It resolved its regulatory issues and positioned itself as the standard for cross-border payments between institutions. It doesn't have native staking, but on third-party platforms, you can earn between 1.5% and 8% annually.
Cardano is for those seeking something safer. Its development is slow but meticulous. The price has fallen quite a bit from its peak of $3.10, but it still holds potential. Staking without lock-up periods offers between 1.25% and 5% annually.
Chainlink is the bridge between the real world and blockchain. Without its oracles, most crypto wouldn't work. Native staking hovers around 4-5% annually.
Avalanche processes multiple transactions simultaneously and scales well. It reached highs of $146 years ago, but now it's in recovery. Native staking is around 6.7% APY.
Tron leads in stablecoin transfers. Its massive daily use guarantees constant liquidity. In 2025, it had a return of 25.87%.
Sui is more experimental. It processes transactions simultaneously and attracts next-generation developers. It dropped a lot from its high of $5.35, but if the ecosystem continues expanding in DeFi and gaming, it could recover significantly.
The key is to identify your risk profile. If you're conservative, stick with Bitcoin and Ethereum as pillars. If you tolerate more volatility, Solana or Ripple offer that sweet spot between stability and potential. And if you're looking to capture the next technological leap, Chainlink or Avalanche represent the cutting edge, though with higher risk.
What I recommend is diversifying according to your risk tolerance and maintaining a long-term vision. The crypto market is still young, and these assets with higher capitalization and institutional adoption are generally safer than new experimental coins. Personally, I keep observing how all this evolves, but these are the best cryptos I consider to build a solid foundation.
