Just checked out the latest global gold reserve rankings and some of these numbers are pretty interesting. The top countries holding the most gold are basically what you'd expect, but the gaps between them are wild. US dominates with over 8,000 tons, then you've got Germany, Italy, and France all clustered together in the 2,000-3,000 ton range. Russia sitting at 2,333 tons is notable given everything going on geopolitically. China's at 2,279 tons which honestly seems lower than people think for the world's second-largest economy. The rest of the top 10 includes Switzerland, India, Japan, and Netherlands with reserves ranging from 1,040 down to 612 tons. When you look at these top 10 countries with the most gold reserves, it's basically a who's who of developed economies and major geopolitical players. What's wild is how much of the world's gold is concentrated in just these few nations. Makes you think about currency stability and why gold still matters in global finance.
