Have you already heard about games where you can earn money? It’s no longer just a dream for players — it’s a reality that more and more people are testing on their phones. Blockchain has changed the way we think about digital earnings, and games are the best proof of that.
Before we get into specific titles, it’s worth understanding how it all works. In traditional games, you collect items, but they have no value outside the game. Here, it’s different — digital tokens you earn can actually be exchanged for money. That’s the main difference that attracts thousands of new players.
There are basically two ways to earn. The first is rewards for activity — completing missions, winning battles, overcoming challenges, and collecting tokens. The second is NFTs — in-game items you can sell. Character skins, weapons, vehicles — all of these can be NFTs with real value. That’s why play-to-earn games attract both players and investors.
Axie Infinity is probably the most well-known game of this kind. At its peak, 1.8 million people were playing simultaneously. People from the Philippines earned enough to pay their rent. The mechanics are simple — you own characters called Axies, fight other players, breed new Axies. Each of these activities generates income.
Sorare is for football fans. You collect player cards, which are NFTs, and create a team. You earn based on the real players’ results. A card that increases in value is a potential profit. Additionally, you receive in-game rewards — new cards or ETH. It’s a game for those who combine a passion for football with a desire to earn.
My Cryptoheroes is a game built on Ethereum. You collect heroes, send them on missions, search for rare items. There are various ways to earn — selling found items, selling rare expansions, trading in-game art for GUM (the game’s currency), or even selling the heroes themselves. This shows that play-to-earn games offer many earning paths.
With estimates that the gaming market will be worth nearly $269 billion annually by 2025, it makes sense that some of that money goes to players. The reality is, if you want to try your hand at earning through gaming, you now have more options than ever before. All you need is a smartphone and a cryptocurrency wallet.
