I have been researching this idea of mining cryptocurrencies for free from your phone, and honestly, there are several options out there. Basically, the concept is to use your phone's processing power to generate hashes and participate in the network, although honestly, the profitability is quite limited.
The most popular apps I found are CryptoTab (one of the pioneers in this), StormGain (which lets you do small tasks to mine), NiceHash (good for managing profitability), and Bitdeer (more focused on serious users). There's also the cloud mining option where you basically rent hash power without turning your phone into an oven.
Regarding mining cryptocurrencies for free specifically, the reality is that the time invested versus what you earn doesn't always make it worth it. You need to be connected for quite a while (we're talking about an average of 8 hours a day), and the competition is fierce. Plus, there are risks of scams that are no small matter. But well, some people say that to earn a little extra without doing anything, it's okay.
If you want to try on Android, it's relatively simple: download the app, create an account, set up your wallet, and you're good to go. On iPhone, it's more complicated due to Apple's restrictions, so you basically need to use cloud services.
The easiest coins to mine in 2026, according to what I read, are Monero (XMR at $402.59), Dogecoin (DOGE at $0.12), and Ravencoin (RVN at $0.01). Bitcoin, of course, is the hardest; you'd spend a lot of time mining it on your phone.
The truth is, if you really want to get into mining, it's better to invest in dedicated equipment or use cloud services. But if you're just looking to mine cryptocurrencies for free as a hobby while normally using your phone, go ahead—you're only losing some battery life.
