Windsurf 2.0 turns the IDE into a proxy scheduling center, with Devin cloud proxy built-in for free

ME News Report, April 16 (UTC+8), according to Beating Monitoring, Cognition AI released Windsurf 2.0, with core updates including the “Agent Command Center” and Devin cloud-based agents built-in directly. The IDE is no longer just a place for coding but has become a dispatch platform for managing a team of AI agents. The Agent Command Center displays all active agents in a Kanban view, managing both local and cloud agents in a unified manner, with columns sorted by status. The design intention is clear: when engineers run dozens of agents simultaneously handling different parts of the same project, the bottleneck is not coding ability but human attention and working memory. The Kanban allows engineers to quickly see which agents are working, which are stuck, and which are waiting for review. “Spaces” are a new work organization unit. A space bundles everything related to a task: agent sessions, PRs, files, and context. When creating a new agent session within a space, it automatically inherits the existing project context of that space, eliminating the need to describe requirements each time. Switching spaces is equivalent to switching tasks, each backed by a set of running agents. Devin is Cognition’s previously independent autonomous programming agent, equipped with its own cloud virtual machine, desktop environment, and browser, capable of end-to-end debugging, deployment, testing, and other tasks. It is now directly integrated into Windsurf: users can formulate plans on local agents and dispatch them to Devin in the cloud with one click, even if the laptop is closed. After Devin completes the task, it submits a PR, and users can review diffs, run tests, or have local agents fix issues directly within Windsurf. Devin is available to all Windsurf package users and is being rolled out in batches. (Source: BlockBeats)
