I just read about the most expensive NFTs ever sold, and honestly, it's mind-blowing. Pak's The Merge remains the king with those $91.8 million in December 2021. The crazy part is that it wasn't a single sale, but 28,893 collectors bought units at $575 each. It's a completely different concept from a traditional NFT.

Then there's Beeple with his Everydays: The First 5000 Days, which sold for $69 million at Christie's. The guy created a digital artwork every day for 5,000 days and compiled it into a massive collage. It went from an initial $100 to nearly $70 million, basically because people recognize his talent.

Another one that surprised me is Clock, made by Pak with Julian Assange. It's a timer that records Assange's days in detention and updates daily. AssangeDAO bought it for $52.7 million to support his legal defense. Now that's an NFT with a purpose.

Beeple also has Human One, a 16K kinetic sculpture that constantly evolves because he can update it remotely. It sold for nearly $29 million. It's basically art that changes over time.

CryptoPunks also dominate the list. #5822 (un alien punk azul) llegó a 23 millones, mientras que el #7523 with a medical mask sold for $11.75 million. These punks are from 2017, so they have that factor of being some of the first NFT projects.

In terms of complete collections, Axie Infinity accumulated $4.27 billion in total sales, and Bored Ape Yacht Club reached $3.16 billion. That shows how the most expensive NFT market is still dominated by certain artists and projects.

What's interesting is that each most expensive NFT has its own story. It's not just money; it's about scarcity, the creator's reputation, and what it represents. Some are unique, others are limited editions. The market is volatile, but clearly, collectors are willing to pay ridiculous figures for the right pieces.

Additionally, Dmitri Cherniak with his Ringers on Art Blocks is also on the list. #109 sold for $6.93 million. That's generative art, not something traditional.

Honestly, the most expensive NFT right now reflects how digital art has become something serious. A few years ago, this was a joke; now we're talking tens of millions. Some will say it's a bubble, others that it's the future of art. I just observe and wonder what the next most expensive NFT to break these records will be.
