LeBron James is not yet ready to say goodbye to the courts.
While speculation about when the 40-year-old superstar will retire continues, sources close to LeBron say that the 2025-26 season will definitely not be his last.
"LeBron has been contemplating retirement every summer since 2023. However, a source familiar with his mindset firmly stated that LeBron James does not approach the 2025-26 season as if it were his final season."
Entering his 23rd season in the NBA and preparing to exercise his $52.6 million player option, LeBron clearly shows that he has not run out of fuel. Despite his advancing age, he continues to perform at an elite level.
James, who will turn 41 in December, has already returned to the court after suffering a Grade 2 MCL tear in Game 5 of the Los Angeles Lakers' first-round series elimination by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
