ME News report. On April 16 (UTC+8), Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei said at a press conference in Tehran, the capital, held on the 15th that speculation about the extension of the Iran-U.S. ceasefire still cannot be confirmed, and it is necessary to observe whether the U.S. side’s stated diplomatic position genuinely reflects sincerity.

When responding to a question about “whether a potential extension of the Iran-U.S. ceasefire is possible and which issues have made relatively more progress in the negotiations,” Baghaei said that the United States has “changed its position multiple times and its statements contradict one another,” and even if some level of consensus is reached, it is difficult to ensure that the U.S. will carry it out. Therefore, dialogue between Iran and the U.S. is being conducted under very complicated circumstances.

Regarding negotiation progress, Baghaei said that the relevant issues are interconnected and that all aspects need to be advanced as a whole. At present, the dialogue is still ongoing through Pakistan as an intermediary. (Source: ODAILY)
