a man became
the most powerful person
on Earth.
he didn't want the job.
Marcus Aurelius
was adopted into power.
trained for it.
given no choice.
and on the day
he became Emperor of Rome —
the greatest empire
the world had ever seen —
he went home
and wrote in his diary:
"you have power over your mind,
not outside events.
realize this,
and you will find strength."
he wrote it
not for the world.
for himself.
the Meditations
were never meant
to be published.
they were a man
talking himself
through the weight
of being human
in an impossible position.
every morning
before the senate.
before the generals.
before the empire —
Marcus sat alone
and reminded himself:
the obstacle is the way.
what stands in the way
becomes the way.
he ruled for 19 years.
fought wars he didn't start.
buried children he loved.
watched everything
he built
slowly crack.
and every single day
he wrote.
not about victories.
not about power.
about staying human
when everything around you
is designed
to make you
forget what that means.
he wrote:
"waste no more time
arguing about what a good man
should be.
be one."
the LOVErse
has been saying this
since before Rome existed.
less arguing.
less performing.
less waiting
to become.
just
be. 🌹🌌
what would you write
in your own Meditations
today? 👇
