Golden Finance reports that on May 11, Axie Infinity’s underlying gaming blockchain Ronin will, on May 12, undergo a hard fork to migrate from an independent sidechain to an Ethereum Layer 2 network, which is expected to result in approximately 10 hours of network downtime. During this period, all transfers, swaps, contract interactions, and on-chain game activities will be paused. This upgrade will introduce the OP Stack architecture and the “Proof of Distribution” allocation model, rewarding builders based on actual network contributions. At the same time, it will significantly reduce the RON inflation rate from over 20% to below 1%, and transfer 90,000,000 RON originally used for staking rewards into the treasury fund. Market transaction fees will be increased from 0.5% to 1.25% to enhance security and scalability while reshaping the token economy.
