Hasset: Federal Reserve Chair Powell may resign after the Comptroller of the Currency report is released

ME News, May 11 (UTC+8). In an interview, Brian Deese, Director of the White House National Economic Council, was asked how long Jerome Powell might remain as a Federal Reserve governor after Kevin Warsh takes over as Federal Reserve Chair. Deese said he believes Powell may feel that he can choose to step down after the Federal Reserve Inspector General completes its investigation into the Federal Reserve building renovation project. Deese said: “I guess, the opportunity to step down might come when the Inspector General’s report is released, and he is satisfied with the investigation results.” (Source: ChainCatcher)
