Dogecoin started as a joke, then turned into an $80B+ crypto token, but the founder only gained $10,000 💀

Back in 2013, Jackson Palmer joked online that Dogecoin could be the next big crypto and bought the domain just to mock the hype around cryptocurrencies
Billy Markus saw it, messaged him, and coded the whole coin in a few hours over a weekend, that’s literally how Dogecoin was born 😭
They used the famous Shiba Inu meme as the logo, added Comic Sans font for maximum trolling made the supply ridiculously huge on purpose because they thought crypto was taking itself too seriously
With the help of the internet, dogecoin exploded across Reddit and crypto communities because it felt fun instead of corporate
People tipped DOGE online, spammed memes everywhere, and even used it to: send the Jamaican bobsled team to the Olympics, sponsor a NASCAR driver, fund charity projects in Kenya
At one point, DOGE trading volume was even competing with Bitcoin 💀
Then came the craziest part, Billy Markus eventually got tired of the drama and sold all his crypto in 2015 for roughly enough money to cover rent and buy a used Honda Civic
A few years later, Elon Musk started tweeting about DOGE nonstop, It pumped massively because of this
By 2021, Dogecoin hit around $0.73 and briefly reached an $80B+ market cap, becoming one of the biggest cryptocurrencies on earth
The same coin created in a few hours as a joke became worth more than many major companies
The founder sold early missed out and got one of the most generational fumble ever
DOGE1.02%
SHIB2.97%
