Iran seeks to control the underwater internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz
ME News Report, May 10 (UTC+8), Iran is pushing for licensing, charging, and legal jurisdiction over foreign cable operators. These cables carry a large volume of data traffic between Europe, the Gulf region, and Asia. Iran also requires all management and maintenance work to be exclusively handled by domestic companies. Previously, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran warned that attacks could be launched against the relevant submarine cable infrastructure. (Source: BlockBeats)
