just realized how much of a pain nft taxes can be lol. so i did some digging and found out there's actually some solid best nft tax software options out there that make life way easier. been looking at a few and thought id share what i found since im sure others are in the same boat.
so basically theres six main platforms people seem to use. tokenTax is pretty popular if you're mainly on coinbase - their basic plan is like 65 a year and handles up to 100 transactions. if you trade across multiple exchanges though you'd need their premium tier. blockpit seems really clean if you're in europe since they support germany france spain and a bunch of other countries. they also let you track your whole nft collection in one place which is kinda nice.
koinly's another one that keeps popping up - works for over 20 countries and their newbie plan is only 49 a year. cointracker is solid too especially if you're in us canada uk or australia. they even integrate with turbotax which honestly saves so much time. coinledger and zenledger are the other two - both around 49 a year and pretty straightforward.
the thing that got me is that apparently just buying an nft with crypto can be a taxable event depending on where you live. like if your eth went up in value and you used it to buy an nft you might owe taxes on that gain. never thought about it that way honestly. and in the us collectible nfts can get taxed at like 28% which is pretty steep.
anyway if you're making money from nfts definitely use one of these best nft tax software tools. way better than trying to figure it out yourself and probably saves you from getting in trouble with tax authorities. anyone else dealing with this or am i overthinking it
