The "nuclear-level unlock" is here in the crypto world: RAIN releases $397 million in one go.

Will retail investors still sleep well tonight?

The biggest horror story in the crypto space recently isn't a crash.
It's—unlocking.
In May, the entire crypto market will see about $639 million worth of tokens unlocked, and the scariest part isn't BTC or ETH, but RAIN, which many previously paid little attention to.
Because this time, it's not a small "water release."
It's a full throttle opening.
On May 10th, RAIN's single unlock exceeds 10% of its circulating market cap, worth about $397 million.
What does that mean?
Simply put:
There were originally only 10 watermelons in the market.
Now suddenly, someone trucks in one more.
If the price can stay stable, that's true faith in the market.
Old players in crypto all understand one phrase:
"Unlocking isn't scary; who sells is scary."
Because many project teams say they are building ecosystems for the long term.
But as soon as wallets unlock, the market immediately starts guessing:
"Who will run first?"
Especially since this time, RAIN's volume is huge.
The market's biggest concern now isn't the K-line,
but whale wallets.
Because the most classic storyline in crypto is always:
"Project team says they won't sell,
but on-chain transfers start happening."
Retail investors have recently begun to enter "detective mode."
Monitoring exchange inflows.
Watching address movements on the chain.
Analyzing order book depth.
In the past, everyone studied technical analysis.
Now, everyone studies wallet movements.
The entire market feels like a large criminal investigation scene.
What's even more amusing is that before each unlock, the community always splits into two factions.
First faction:
"Bad news has already been digested."
Second faction:
"Bro, the whales are already at the elevator."
And historical experience is actually very cruel.
Large unlocks often mean short-term selling pressure.
The reason is simple:
Early investors bought at very low costs.
You might think a 20% drop is terrible.
But they could still have 100 times profit.
So, many institutions' favorite move is:
Unlock → transfer to exchanges → sell while pulling up the price.
The most outrageous thing is, after every bull market, the crypto world enters a "unlock season."
Because project funding cycles are almost over.
Then the market suddenly realizes:
The real opponent isn't the bears,
but venture capitalists (VCs).
And May 10th might be RAIN's most dangerous time window.
Because what the market truly fears is never the unlock announcement.
It's—sudden large transfers on-chain.
At that moment, retail investors usually have only two reactions:
First, deny.
Second, run away.
