What is Amazon AgentCore? Deploy AI agents at scale without servers, and also use stablecoins for micro-payments.
Amazon AWS Launches Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Platform to Help Enterprises Deploy AI Agents Without Servers. The biggest highlight is the integration of Coinbase and Stripe, allowing AI to use stablecoin USDC for micro-payments.
What is Amazon AgentCore?
As the tasks of AI Agents become increasingly complex, enterprises face multiple challenges in development, including security, compliance, and scalability. To address this, Amazon AWS has entered the AI cloud infrastructure space, launching the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore platform as early as 2025, specifically to assist developers in large-scale building, deployment, and operation of AI agents, without managing underlying infrastructure, now also integrating cryptocurrency to enable AI agent payment functions.
The main features of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore include:
Memory and Learning Mechanisms
The system can provide personalized interactive experiences through persistent memory, allowing AI agents to autonomously learn from past user interactions.
This feature ensures the continuity of context across interactions and accumulates knowledge to improve agent performance over time.
System Integration and Gateway Services
In terms of tool connectivity, gateway services can convert APIs and Lambda functions into tools compatible with AI agent programs.
This service can easily connect to existing MCP servers and enable intelligent tool exploration through semantic search, significantly reducing developers’ coding burden.
Serverless Deployment and Execution
The platform’s runtime features offer a serverless architecture, where companies only pay for the resources they actually use.
This environment supports complete session isolation to prevent data leaks and is highly flexible, capable of handling everything from low-latency conversations to asynchronous workloads lasting up to 8 hours.
Policy Control and Quality Monitoring
To ensure security, the platform has built-in policy controls and real-time evaluation features that can intercept tool calls instantly, helping AI agents operate within safe boundaries without sacrificing speed.
At the same time, developers can monitor and improve interaction quality through observation dashboards and evaluation tools, sampling and scoring real-time interactions.
AWS officials state that current enterprise clients such as Ericsson and Thomson Reuters (the parent company of Reuters) have begun adopting Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.
Ericsson’s Director of AI and Emerging Technologies for Wide Area Networks Dag Lindbo said that AgentCore provides the core data fusion power for their large system, significantly boosting performance for tens of thousands of employees in real R&D scenarios.
Latest ❗ Support for Stablecoin Micro-Payments
Beyond complete platform infrastructure, Amazon has further addressed the payment pain points faced by AI agents executing cross-platform tasks.
AWS has partnered with Coinbase and Stripe to integrate a brand-new payment feature within AgentCore. This allows AI agents to automatically use stablecoins to make real-time payments for APIs, data sources, MCP servers, and online paid content they utilize.
What is the x402 Protocol Behind AgentCore Payments?
AgentCore’s ability to perform micro-payments with stablecoins is deeply integrated with cryptocurrency and the x402 protocol.
Coinbase explains that the x402 protocol is an open payment standard based on the HTTP 402 status code. When an AI agent encounters a paid online resource, the system uses Coinbase and Stripe’s wallet infrastructure to make micro-payments using USDC stablecoin.
Transactions are executed on Ethereum Layer 2 network Base and Solana, with settlement times around 200 milliseconds. Coinbase states that the x402 protocol has already processed over 169 million native machine payments, covering 590k buyers and 100k sellers.

Regarding integration with cryptocurrencies, AgentCore Director Preethi CN said that the platform is designed with high flexibility, allowing developers not to be bound by a single standard, and will continue supporting more emerging protocols in the future.
Coinbase Infrastructure Development Head Brian Foster also mentioned that the industry has long desired autonomous trading agents, but often faced regulatory and compliance hurdles. Now, AWS’s solution finally empowers agents with financial autonomy.
Henri Stern, CEO of Privy under Stripe, emphasized that to make AI agents meaningful economic participants, the industry must provide infrastructure for holding and spending funds.
Tech Giants Are Laying Out AI Agent Payments, Crypto Killer Apps Are Here
Since the concept of AI agents emerged, many large tech companies and the cryptocurrency industry have been actively laying out the AI agent economy ecosystem.
Last week, crypto payment provider MoonPay launched a new financial card enabling AI agents to spend stablecoins at online merchants; recently, Solana and Google Cloud also introduced a service allowing AI agents to pay for API and cloud service costs using stablecoins per request.
Stablecoins, due to their low cost, fast settlement, and programmability, are rapidly becoming a key payment track to drive the AI agent economy.
Privacy blockchain project Aleo recently published an article stating that the “killer app” of the cryptocurrency industry is not buying coffee with Bitcoin, not DeFi yields, nor NFTs, but the integration of cryptocurrency with AI agent payments. This killer app has already arrived.
