Microsoft Research Institute announces 2026 Research Scholarship Program, focusing on AI's global and societal impact

ME News. On April 9 (UTC+8), Microsoft Research recently announced its 2026 Research Scholarship program. A new batch of researchers and mentors will conduct research around the core theme of “The Global and Social Impact of Artificial Intelligence.” The announced research directions include: developing fair interactive AI tools for creative workers; studying the impact of AI applications on global employment, recruitment, and performance outcomes; grounding AI technology in the majority of languages, cultures, and contexts worldwide; addressing misinformation and false information through the design and evaluation of provenance tools; using psychometrics methods to advance the evaluation of generative AI; researching efficient and accurate post-training methods for retrieval models; guiding reasoning models through test-time verification; and developing generative models for regulating genomics.
