When choosing an altcoin, you should look at the real application of the project, not just hype. Who is behind it, what partners support it, whether there are concrete development plans. Technological development and updates are indicators of whether the project is alive or already on the decline.

In general, what is an altcoin in the context of the modern crypto market — it’s no longer just an alternative to Bitcoin, but a whole class of assets with different functions and prospects. Each project solves its own tasks, and investors need to understand each one individually.
