I happened to come across a story about NFT entrepreneurship that’s worth整理ing. The name Charlotte Fang may not be familiar to everyone in the NFT circle, but her project Milady Maker under the Remilia Corporation she founded is almost universally known among NFT enthusiasts.
In August 2021, Charlotte Fang and her team launched Milady Maker, a trendy anime-style NFT series limited to 10,000 pieces deployed on Ethereum. Their strategy was quite simple—establishing a Minecraft server as a community hub. The result was unexpectedly successful; the NFTs sold out quickly, and the community began to expand rapidly. By April 2022, the floor price of Milady Maker had soared to 1.55 ETH.
But good times didn’t last. In May 2022, an old social media account associated with Charlotte Fang was exposed for posting extreme content, sparking accusations of racism and hate speech. This controversy hit Milady Maker hard, causing the floor price to crash. Fang later admitted to owning the account, explaining it was an old account used for performance art, and apologized for hiding this part of his past. He said these "toxic burdens" had hurt the community atmosphere.
The turning point came in May 2023. Elon Musk shared a meme of Milady on Twitter, giving an unexpected endorsement that directly ignited the market. The floor price of Milady Maker rebounded, even surpassing previous highs. By mid-2023, it had become one of the top three 10,000-profile-picture NFT series.
However, Charlotte Fang’s story was far from over. In September 2023, he filed lawsuits against three members of the Milady Maker team, though due to the close-knit community, it didn’t cause much FUD. By early 2024, the lawsuits were withdrawn. Despite these upheavals, Milady Maker remains one of the most actively traded NFT series today, with a stable floor price of 4.90 ETH.
Earlier this year, Charlotte Fang launched a new project—$CULT, a highly anticipated Meme coin. At launch, the FDV soared to $845 million. The project has a total supply of 10 billion tokens, with over half allocated to the "Cult Fund," and 15% distributed to Milady Maker holders (locked for 18 months). Charlotte Fang and his team retained 20-35%. Holders of Milady and Redacted Remilio Babies NFTs also received exclusive airdrops.
According to the latest data, the current status of $CULT has changed quite a bit since launch. The evolution of this project illustrates some important lessons— even after major scandals and controversies, as long as the community is tight-knit and the creativity strong enough, NFT projects still have a chance to make a comeback. Charlotte Fang’s experience is a prime example of this.
