ME News Report, April 15 (UTC+8), according to 1M AI News monitoring, Google has officially released the desktop search app for Windows users worldwide, previously only tested in the United States. Users can summon the search box with Alt+Space to directly search the web, local files, installed applications, and Google Drive files. The built-in AI Mode offers Gemini-powered AI responses and follow-up questions. The app integrates Google Lens and screen sharing: Lens can select any content on the screen for search, such as translating text in images or solving problems; screen sharing allows users to choose a specific window or full screen to ask questions directly, without switching apps. The Verge compares it to macOS’s Spotlight but with added AI capabilities. Currently, it only supports English and requires Windows 10 or later. Google is also reportedly testing a macOS version of the Gemini standalone app, which will directly compete with desktop versions of ChatGPT and Claude. (Source: BlockBeats)
