In psychology, there is a subtle form of control that’s hard to notice, called “over-accountability”: when someone is overly afraid of losing control, they unconsciously try to manage everything—even other people’s emotions. On the surface, it looks like thoughtfulness, being well-mannered, and taking care of others, but at its core, it’s often fear acting while wearing a “good person” mask. I once said that I can’t help but comfort everyone. Teacher Dong replied that what he heard was a child who, from a young age, learned to trade looking after others for a sense of security. This also shows that some excessively attentive care actually comes from deep-seated unease about losing control and being left behind.
