Many people's understanding does not automatically improve with age. If a person is stubborn, shortsighted, and unwilling to listen to advice when they are young, over time, they tend to become even more stubborn rather than more clear-headed. The so-called "foolishness" is not necessarily a lack of ability, but a long-term state of not self-reflecting, always thinking they are right, blaming others for problems, and refusing to reflect and adjust. If this pattern is not actively broken, it will be the same at twenty, at forty, and even into old age. Time can change appearance but may not change a person's way of thinking, so one cannot simply rely on the hope that the other person will "eventually understand."
