Claude Code Desktop Version Redesign, Multiple Concurrent Conversations, Built-in Terminal and File Editor
ME News Report, April 15 (UTC+8), according to 1M AI News monitoring, Anthropic has redesigned the Claude Code desktop application, with the core change supporting the parallel running of multiple programming sessions within the same window. The new sidebar centrally manages all active and historical sessions, supporting filtering by status, project, or environment; sessions are automatically archived after PR merges or closures. Users can also open the sidebar window during tasks using a shortcut (⌘+;), which reads the main thread context but does not write back to the main thread, avoiding interference with ongoing tasks.
This update directly integrates several commonly used development tools into the application:
All panels support drag-and-drop arrangement, allowing users to freely customize workspace layouts. The desktop version now fully supports compatibility with CLI plugins, meaning plugins installed in the terminal are also available on the desktop. SSH remote connection support has been extended from Linux to Mac.
The interface introduces three new display modes (Verbose, Normal, Summary), allowing users to switch freely from detailed tool invocation to pure result display. A new usage button provides an overview of context window and session usage. All Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, and API users can access these features.
