Many people enter the market with a challenge mentality, not a reading mentality.

When they see the price dropping, they feel it's an opportunity to prove they're smarter than the market.
They open a short position while they are already psychologically behind the movement.
The problem is not with the tool (futures), the problem is with the false sense of control as if the market has to move according to your prediction.
