ME News Report, April 9 (UTC+8), White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated on Wednesday local time that Iran has indicated it will transfer its uranium enrichment stockpile and called this one of Trump’s main priorities. Trump said that one of the main reasons for initiating war was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, which Iran has long denied having such intentions. Jean-Pierre said at the briefing, “This is a red line that the President will never back down from; he is committed to ensuring this is carried out.” When asked whether Iran had indicated it would transfer the uranium, Jean-Pierre replied, “Yes, they have indicated so,” but she did not disclose specific details. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that nearly half of Iran’s enriched uranium, with a maximum enrichment level of 60%, is stored in a tunnel complex in Isfahan, and it is very likely that this uranium remains there. The tunnel complex was the only target that appeared not to have been severely damaged during the June last year US-Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin previously said, “It is currently buried underground, and we are monitoring it closely. We are fully aware of what they have, and they know it themselves.” He also stated that if necessary, Washington reserves the right to further military strikes to destroy these enriched uranium stocks.
