ME News report, April 9 (UTC+8). At a White House press briefing on Wednesday local time, White House press secretary Leavitt said Iran has indicated it will transfer its uranium enrichment stockpile, calling it one of President Trump’s main priorities. Trump said that one of the main reasons for launching a war is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, which Iran has long denied any intention to pursue.

At the briefing, Leavitt said, “This is a red line that the president will never back down from. He is committed to ensuring this is carried out.” When asked whether Iran had stated it would transfer the uranium, Leavitt replied, “Yes, they have said so.” However, she did not disclose any specific details.

IAEA Director General Grossi said that nearly half of Iran’s enriched uranium, with a maximum enrichment level of 60%, is stored in a tunnel complex in Isfahan, and that this enriched uranium is very likely still there. The tunnel complex was the only target that appeared to have not been severely damaged during the US-Israel strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June last year.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Hegseth previously said, “At the moment, it is buried underground, and we are monitoring it closely. We are fully aware of what they have, and they know that themselves.” He also said that if necessary, Washington reserves the right to carry out further military strikes to destroy these enriched uranium stockpiles.
