Last night, I saw yet another debate about NFT royalties, basically meaning creators want "future revenue sharing," while traders complain about high costs and liquidity being blocked. Neither side is entirely wrong; it's just that they’re forcing a "creator economy" idea into the secondary market, where friction is most feared, so of course it blows up.

I personally prefer to think of royalties as "voluntary tips + access tickets" in design: those willing to support get some extra benefits (whitelists, content unlocks, offline events, etc.), and those who aren’t willing shouldn’t be forced into a tax... Forced royalties ultimately lead people to find alternative markets, superficially protecting creators but actually fragmenting the ecosystem. Anyway, when I see projects with high royalties now, I first think about what makes people willing to pay voluntarily, rather than relying on contracts to deduct automatically.
