ME News report. On April 9 (UTC+8), White House press secretary Leavitt said on Wednesday local time that Iran has indicated it will transfer its uranium enrichment stockpile, and called this one of Trump’s main priorities. Trump said that one of the main reasons for starting a war is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and that Iran has long denied having such intentions.

At the briefing, Leavitt said, “This is a red line the President will never back down on. He is committed to ensuring this is carried out.” When asked whether Iran had indicated it would transfer the uranium, Leavitt replied, “Yes, they have said so.” However, she did not disclose specific details.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that nearly half of Iran’s enriched uranium, whose highest enrichment level reaches 60%, is stored in a tunnel complex in Isfahan, and that this uranium is very likely still there. The tunnel complex was the only target that appeared not to have been severely damaged during last June’s strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities carried out by the US and Israel.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Hegseth previously said, “Right now, it is buried underground, and we are keeping a close watch on it. We are fully aware of what they have, and they know that themselves.” He also said that, if necessary, Washington reserves the right to launch further military strikes to destroy these enriched uranium stocks.
