CoinDesk Poll: Only 1% of American voters list cryptocurrency as a top issue in the midterm elections
ME News Report, May 3 (UTC+8), according to a survey commissioned by CoinDesk of 1,000 registered American voters shows that only 1% of respondents list cryptocurrency as the most important issue in the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, ranking nearly last among all concerns. In comparison, cost of living (36%), employment and economy (13%), and Social Security and Medicare (11%) are the issues voters care about most. The survey also indicates that overall, American voters hold a somewhat negative view of cryptocurrencies, with only 27% of respondents having invested, traded, or used cryptocurrencies, and another 27% indicating they might participate in the future. About 47% of respondents believe the Republican Party is more friendly toward cryptocurrencies, while only 14% think the Democratic Party is more supportive of the crypto industry; however, in terms of “which party is more trusted to manage crypto affairs,” Democrats slightly lead with 27% compared to 25% for Republicans, and 40% say they do not trust either party. Although cryptocurrencies are not a core election issue, about 40% of respondents still prefer to vote for candidates whose views on crypto align with theirs, showing that digital asset topics continue to grow in influence within U.S. politics.
