Goolsbee: The Federal Reserve may have to wait until 2027 to cut interest rates

ME News message. On April 15 (UTC+8), Goolsby, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, said on Tuesday that if an Iran war causes oil prices to stay high for a long time, thereby slowing the process of inflation falling back to the Federal Reserve’s 2% target, the Federal Reserve may need to wait until 2027 before it can cut interest rates. He noted that it was originally thought there could be multiple rate cuts in 2026, but if inflation remains high, the timing of rate cuts would be pushed back. His confidence has weakened, adding that in some circumstances, interest rates could be raised. (Source: ChainCatcher)
