Abstract generation in progress

ME News report. On April 9 (UTC+8), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced the appointment of David Woodcock as the new head of its enforcement division, replacing the prior supervisor who stepped down. Woodcock previously served as the director of the SEC’s Fort Worth office (2011–2015), where he oversaw enforcement attorneys, review staff, and the accounting team, and participated in investigations across nearly all major enforcement areas. More recently, he has been a partner at the law firm Gibson Dunn. Notably, Woodcock does not have a clearly defined background in the crypto industry; this appointment comes at a time when the SEC’s approach to crypto enforcement has drawn controversy. Previously, disagreements over how cases were handled and enforcement standards had led to the predecessor’s shorter tenure and attracted attention from Congress. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said the appointment will help strengthen efforts to crack down on “misconduct that causes the greatest harm to investors.” (Source: ODAILY)
