So the NFT market just exploded again and honestly I'm seeing platforms I haven't checked in forever suddenly getting activity. The past week alone saw $179 million in trading volume - that's the biggest spike since April 2024. Punks especially are going absolutely wild, up like 665% which is kind of insane to watch.
I've been looking at which marketplaces are actually worth using right now if you want to get into this. OpenSea is still dominating - it's basically the go-to best nft platform for most people. In the last 24 hours alone it moved $4.92 million in volume and controls over a quarter of the market. It works across Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, Arbitrum and a bunch of other chains, so there's decent variety in what you can trade. The fee is 2.5% on secondary sales which is pretty standard.
Magic Eden has been quietly climbing though. It's the best nft platform for Solana stuff especially, and they've expanded to support Bitcoin Ordinals, Base, and Arbitrum recently. Yesterday they hit $4.76 million in volume - basically neck and neck with OpenSea. Blur is another serious player if you're more of a trader type. It's more professional-focused, launched on Ethereum and Blast, and has some neat features like collateralized lending and transparent bidding history so you can actually see what an NFT is worth.
For Solana specifically, Tensor is pretty solid. It's got real-time charts, bulk operations for sweeping or listing, and decent liquidity. Yesterday they had $2.49 million in volume. If you want something more community-driven, Rarible lets you access their DAO with governance rights, and they support multiple chains including Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon.
There's also the more niche options. SuperRare is ultra-exclusive if you're into fine art - they're pretty curated about who gets featured. Mintable is great if you want to mint for free and don't have coding skills. LooksRare rewards you with their LOOKS token when you trade. And yeah, there are other options too if you want to diversify where you're trading.
Honestly the best nft platform really depends on what you're trying to do. If you want maximum liquidity and variety, stick with the big ones. If you're chasing specific collections like Punks or want to focus on one chain, pick accordingly. The best nft platform for you might not be the best for someone else. What are you mostly trading right now?
