Recently I’ve been seeing people get liquidated again, so let’s talk about the issue of oracle price-feeding delays. You think your position is still pretty far from the liquidation line, but that on-chain price is a half-step behind—then in times of extreme volatility, you end up with the awkward situation of “the market has already moved, but the system is still calculating using the old price.” Liquidation bots don’t care about your feelings. If it’s gone, then it’s gone… Anyway, I’ve set my leverage up to be very conservative right now—I’d rather make a little less.
Also, lately some places have been swinging between tighter and looser taxes and compliance, and deposit/withdrawal expectations keep changing, which makes it psychologically easier to slip up and add leverage. Then when you run into oracle feeding getting stuck or delayed, it gets even worse. There’s just too much information, and it’s quite stressful. My filtering method is simple: I only keep an eye on the oracle sources, the update frequency, and historical anomalies for the oracles from the few protocols I actually use. I’m not checking the rest of the noise—first, keep myself safe.
