I have over 800 games in Steam (see Figure 2),
Highly recommend to anyone interested in game + AI integration,
Try playing "The Sultan's Game" (see Figure 1, available on Windows/Mac).
1. It is the most unique game I’ve played in the past year.
2. It’s a domestic game, but its setting is medieval Middle East.
3. It’s narrative-driven, but with unprecedented freedom and no limits on content.
The game advances the story through each turn,
by playing different characters, props, and other cards in various scenes.
For example:
In a certain outdoor scene, encountering a “rhinoceros,”
if you play two cards: “Protagonist + Lust,”
these three cards will combine to generate some limitless plotlines...
And the same scene and card combinations can also change based on dice rolls,
for instance, the rhinoceros might die first, then... (can’t say more)
Any action you take
can have countless intertwined effects on the story,
leading to numerous cross-branching consequences and endings.
Here’s the key point:
Darkness without limits is just surface, the real focus is on this freedom,
and this gameplay mode,
which surprisingly serves as an excellent “foundation” for AI integration.
Usually, when we talk about game + AI,
it’s often about using AI to develop games,
essentially just referring to Vibe Coding game software.
But game AI integration is a completely different context.
For example:
1. NPC dialogues and secondary actions in "Yan Yun Shiliu Sheng" generated by AI
2. AI-generated real-time game graphics
But these two:
1. Are not main gameplay mechanics
2. Likely need several more years of development before they become playable
In contrast, "The Sultan’s Game,"
its main gameplay is text,
driven and expressed primarily, even solely, through text.
You can think of it as
“Interactive Text Novel + RPG + Card Game,”
but its core story is still built on If-Else logic
(though countless storylines are achieved purely through If-Else).
If AI is used to transform this unique game type,
it could create, or even heavily modify,
a game entirely driven by AI in real-time, with “infinite storylines.”
This would be the fastest way to develop this kind of next-generation AI game,
because:
The core feedback of such games—endless variation in story output—
does not require images or videos, only text.
Plus, the “card play” combinations in its core gameplay
are essentially “prompt word” combinations for AI-generated plots,
which perfectly aligns with the current maturity of large language models.
There’s even a complete WIKI resource database for this game on Bilibili:
From a player’s perspective,
this game type and gameplay, though unique,
are by no means niche.
As a domestic game, "The Sultan’s Game"
has over 20k “Very Positive” reviews on Steam.
I can vouch for my Steam library of over 800 games:
1. Even if you’re not very interested in AI,
as long as you like card games/RPGs, or even just enjoy reading novels,
this game is very suitable—fresh experience and highly replayable.
2. For those interested in the future of AI-driven games,
this is a real opportunity to get a taste of similar experiences before true AI games arrive.
3. For more advanced individual Vibe Coders,
who want to try not just making a game with Vibe,
but creating a new, innovative game that’s not yet on the market,
with a broad player base, low performance requirements,
clear gameplay mechanics, and low development barriers.
At least give it a try,
you’re sure to gain great inspiration.
