ME News Report, April 14 (UTC+8), according to 1M AI News monitoring, Alibaba’s autonomous driving research division under Gaode Map is preparing to launch a four-legged robot, which will be Alibaba’s first product in the robotics hardware field. Gaode spokesperson stated that the company “has been deeply investing in embodied intelligence, continuously releasing multiple embodied models, and actively exploring hardware products such as quadruped robots and humanoid robots,” and is expected to “soon” release its first quadruped robot. This product will directly compete with Yushutai Technology’s Go series, whose Go2 is priced at $1,600. Gaode is also evaluating the feasibility of humanoid robots. Alibaba is thus entering an increasingly crowded track: Yushutai Technology, Zhiyuan Robotics, and affiliated company Ant Group have all laid out in this field. Talent competition is also heating up, with robotics company UBTECH currently offering the highest salary of 124 million RMB (about 18 million USD) to recruit a chief scientist. It is not surprising that Gaode, which started with mapping and local life services, is developing robots: Gaode has accumulated a large amount of indoor and outdoor space data and navigation algorithms, which are the core capabilities of mobile robots.
