Just got selected for Pi network verification and realized a lot of people are confused about the whole KYC process. Let me break down what actually happens so you're not caught off guard.
Basically, if you want to move your mined Pi off the network, you need to go through their identity verification system. It's not complicated but there are some things to know upfront.
First, you'll get a notification in your Pi app when you're eligible. Don't panic if you don't see it yet - they're rolling this out in batches. Just keep checking your Mainnet Checklist section.
When it's your turn, here's what you actually need to do. Grab a valid government ID - could be your passport, driver's license, national ID card, whatever. The key thing is making sure the name on it matches exactly what's in your Pi account. If there's a mismatch, you'll get rejected and have to resubmit.
Then you'll need to install their KYC app, which you access through the Pi Browser. Log in with your regular Pi credentials and you're in. The app walks you through uploading clear photos of both sides of your ID - no glare, no blur, make sure everything is readable.
After that comes the facial recognition part. This is where most people mess up. You need good lighting and you'll have to follow their prompts - look left, right, blink, that kind of thing. It's basically a live selfie verification to make sure you're actually you.
Once you submit, it goes through both AI and human review. Could take a few hours, could take a few days. You'll get notified in the app when it's approved.
Honestly, the whole pi kyc verification thing is pretty straightforward if you just follow the steps and make sure your documents are clear. Once you pass, your mined Pi becomes transferable on the Mainnet. Worth doing if you've been accumulating coins.
