Bisq Decentralized Trading Network Security Breach Incident

ME News message. On May 2 (UTC+8), the decentralized Bitcoin trading network Bisq said that its v1 version trading protocol has a vulnerability. Attackers exploited the missing verification mechanism and a modified client to launch attacks on some active open orders and transfer funds within roughly 12 hours, but the assets in users’ local Bitcoin wallets were not affected. The team has paused trading by forcing the transaction version to a non-existent 2.0.0 to stop further exploitation, and is investigating the extent of the losses and the issue’s reproducibility. Bisq plans to release a patch and assess compensation options for affected users, while emphasizing that Bisq 2 is not impacted by this incident. (Source: MLion)
