Just realized a lot of people in crypto don't actually know what 1M or 1B means when they're reading charts and discussions. Kinda wild right?
So let me break this down real quick because it matters when you're tracking market caps or understanding trading volumes.
The K stands for kilo, meaning thousand. So when you see 10K, that's 10,000. Pretty straightforward. 100K is 100,000. You'll see this thrown around all the time when people talk about price targets.
Now 1M - that's where it gets interesting. 1 million is basically a thousand thousands. 1M = 1,000,000. When projects talk about their trading volume or market cap reaching 1M in value, that's actually a solid milestone. 5M would be 5 million, 10M would be 10 million. These numbers start showing real momentum.
Then there's the big one - 1 Billion. That's 1,000,000,000. A thousand millions. When you see Bitcoin or Ethereum market caps in the billions, that's the scale we're talking about. 10B is 10 billion. These are the numbers that move markets.
Honestly, understanding the difference between 1M and 1B changes how you read everything. A project with 1M in volume looks totally different from one with 1B. Same with market caps - 1M market cap project versus 1B market cap project are completely different risk profiles.
If you're serious about trading or following crypto projects, getting comfortable with these terms is essential. Makes spotting real opportunities versus hype way easier. Anyway, worth keeping this reference handy when you're doing your own research on Gate or anywhere else.
