Recently, I've seen many people talking about quitting their jobs to start a business, feeling that working is too exhausting. But what I want to say is that this kind of thinking actually exposes many problems.
First and most painful point: 99% of those who want to help you make money are actually trying to make money off you. Anyone who makes earning money sound very simple is either fooling you or deceiving themselves. I can tell you very straightforwardly, if you are constantly thinking about starting a business and not wanting to work, you're basically wasting your life.
Why do I say that? Because most people who want to start a business are actually avoiding something. Either they are not grounded enough and lack clear self-awareness; or they are exhausted from their current job and want an escape; or they encounter difficulties and want to retreat.
Let's look at the first situation. Starting a business is really hard; it requires knowledge of marketing, finance, risk control, product operations—each of these fields takes decades to master. But most people have ordinary backgrounds, average abilities, no talent, no foundation, yet they still dream of success in business. This itself shows a lack of clear self-awareness. If your abilities are average but you want to do things that only talented people can succeed at, how low is your chance of failure? Once you fail, your savings can't withstand multiple setbacks, and financial pressure will crush you.
The second situation is burnout. Many people don't really want to start a business; they just feel bored and exhausted with their current job and want some novelty. But if you actually start a business, you'll find it doesn't bring the freshness you seek—in fact, it might make you feel even more empty. Instead of doing that, it's better to create changes within your current job, like changing your work methods, trying new projects, or adjusting your work pace. This can help overcome burnout without risking failure by jumping into entrepreneurship.
The last and most dangerous situation: wanting to escape when facing difficulties. There is pressure from leaders and colleagues at work, so you think about starting your own business to avoid management. But the reality is, running a business is much harder than working a job. You will face similar difficulties and even more unknown challenges. If you can't solve problems at your current job, you won't do well in business either. Avoidance is never the solution; you must face challenges head-on.
So, constantly thinking about starting a business and not wanting to work? That mindset is really unhealthy. Whether it's a lack of groundedness, falling into burnout, or retreating when faced with problems, these are not reasons to give up your job. If you truly want to start a business, the most important thing now is to work diligently, improve your skills, accumulate capital and connections, and wait until your conditions are truly ready.
