ME News report: On May 1 (UTC+8), U.S. federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro in Washington, D.C. posted an edited surveillance video on the X platform, recording details related to the Trump shooting incident. The video shows that when the shooter, Cole Allen, attempted to assassinate the president at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, he fired at a Secret Service agent. Pirro denies that this Secret Service personnel member’s injuries were caused by friendly fire. In addition, the video also shows Allen carrying out reconnaissance in the gym area and corridors at the Washington Hilton Hotel the day before the incident.

The incident has sparked widespread public controversy over the Secret Service’s response. Although multiple police dogs detected abnormalities, the issues were not taken seriously, and several personnel on site reacted slowly. Secret Service Director Shawn Cullen stated that Allen was not shot down and subdued by the Secret Service; instead, it happened because Allen tripped over a box loaded with a metal detector while fleeing and passing through an exterior checkpoint for venue inspections. Cullen also confirmed that the five shots fired by the agents at Allen all missed him. (Source: MLion)
